Max Torres, Managing Partner at Plata Energy, participated in the XXIII Peruvian Geological Congress in Lima, where he presented an outlook on the key uncertainties shaping global energy demand and investment decisions through 2050.
Plata Energy participated in the XXIII Peruvian Geological Congress, held in Lima, Peru, from September 16 to 18, 2026. Organized by the Geological Society of Peru under the theme “Geology for the Development of the Country and the Region”, the event brought together professionals from academia, industry and government to discuss the role of geosciences in resources, energy, investment and sustainable development.
During the Congress, Max Torres, Managing Partner at Plata Energy, delivered the presentation “Global Energy Outlook 2026–2050: Paradigms, uncertainties and decisions.” His presentation examined the continued growth of global energy demand and the wide divergence among long-term oil and gas demand scenarios. It also highlighted the challenge these uncertainties create for investment decisions, particularly as future supply will depend on capital commitments being made today.
